Anasazi
Heritage Center - Located in Dolores, Colorado. A federal
museum, research center, and curation facility that introduces visitors to
Four Corners prehistory. Approximately three million records, samples, and
artifacts from public lands throughout southwestern Colorado form the
Center's holdings.
Animas Museum - Located in Durango, Colorado and run by the La
County Historical Society. Features an outstanding collection of
historical photographs and artifacts from Southwest Colorado.
Buffalo Bill's Museum - Located just west of Denver,
Colorado, at the Lookout Mountain gravesite of Buffalo Bill. The
museum has many events throughout the year. One of our most
popular, is the reenactment of his burial.
Children's Museum of Durango - A 1100 sq. ft. facility located
inside the Durango Arts Center with many award-winning exhibits for kids.
Colorado Historical Society Museum - Located in Denver, Colorado.
Founded in 1879, the Colorado Historical Society brings the unique
character of Colorado's past to more than a million people each year
through historical museums and highway markers, exhibitions, manuscript
and photograph collections, popular and scholarly publications, historical
and archaeological preservation services, and educational programs for
children and adults.
Colorado Railroad Museum - Located in Golden, Colorado and
recognized as one of the best privately supported rail museums in the
United States. This "can't miss" site for rail fans features
over 70 historic narrow and standard gauge locomotives and cars.
Cortez Cultural Center - Museum, art
gallery and cultural activities in the Cortez area.
Denver
Museum of Nature & Science - Denver's #1 cultural attraction -
one of the world's great museums.
Golden Pioneer Museum - Located in Golden, Colorado. The
museum has an excellent collection of artifacts donated by the area's
pioneer families, historical photographs, and primitive Native American
artifacts.
Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum - Located in Golden, Colorado.
The museum hangs five exhibits in each of two galleries through the year.
Shows range from historic to contemporary, traditional to art quilts,
using many styles and techniques. One exhibit a year is devoted to quilts
from the Museum's collection.
Telluride Historical Museum - The Telluride Historical Museum
(formerly San Miguel County Historical Society - formed in 1965) by
exploring the events, artifacts, and personal accounts of Telluride's
cultural heritage.
University of Colorado Museum - With more than four million
artifacts and specimens, the CU Museum houses one of the most extensive
and respected natural history collections in the Rocky Mountain and Plains
regions, making it one of the top university natural science museums in
the country.
Rosemount
Museum - Located in Pueblo, the Rosemount is a thirty-seven room
mansion, originally home to the John Thatcher family, which was built in
1893 and is still furnished with 85 percent of its original furnishings.
